4.6L Ford modular powered Cougar runs 6.83!
Congratulations to John Mihovetz! He is the first person to break the seven second barrier in a modular powered car. John ran his car in the NHRA event at Pomona, CA. Racing in the Comp Eliminator class, John made his historic run in first day qualifying. Pitted in first round eliminations against Tony Stephenson, John went on to win that round with a 7.06 to Stephenson's 7.418. John went out in the second round when the car hooked left and he was forced to lift. Regardless, an amazing achievement from 281 Cubic inches.
John runs a Sean Hyland built, Accufab sponsored 4.6L DOHC. The engine utilizes twin 72 mm turbo's through a custom Hogan sheet metal intake.

SEMA!
It's November and that means it's time for the annual SEMA show. This show was extra special as Ford was the feature manufacturer. Ford had a huge display that dominated the hall and featured all their latest project cars and trucks. The disappointing part was the lack of other manufacturers support for the modular engine platform. Roush Racing showed some new cast aluminum valve covers and Comp cams say they will soon have cams for the DOHC engines to go with their new beehive valve springs. The cams are ground on new blanks. Ford displayed some classic vehicles show casing their FR500 parts. It seems the primary focus (pun intended) of Ford Performace Parts is the Focus or the new F150. When walking into the front entrance of the convention center you were greated by about 12 Ford Focus concept vehicles in all different types of body cladding. The 2005 Mustang was on a rotating display but at the rear of the Ford display. The new GT40 was there as well as the 60's version. We took some pictures for those of you that were not able to make it to the show. Click here for the pictures and enjoy!

Koenigsegg CC8S
Check this out. When koenigsegg needed an engine for it's CC8S supercar where did they go? Ford! The engine powering this supercar is a 4.7L DOHC modular V8. It is supercharged with a Vortech intercooled centrifical supercharger that gives this engine a claimed 655 horsepower. It features a dry sump oil system, carbon fiber valve covers and front cover. Cool car.
