This
alternator bracket allows 5.4L DOHC owners the capability of moving
the alternator to the left side of the engine. It utilizes the alternator
from the 1999-2002 power stroke diesel. Why would you want to do this?
If you are running our 5.4L single plane intake with the integral water
crossover it is a necessity to clear the water crossover.
If you are trying to run a positive displacement supercharger, moving
the alternator away from the center of the engine greatly simplifies
belt routing.
If you do not like the alternator being the central focus of your engine
when you open the hood.
When using this
bracket it will require that you use the 2003 Cobra
oil cooler. This cooler routes the water outlet below the power
steering pump. It is available under Ford part # F8ZZ6A642BA for about
150.00. The stock oil filter will not clear the rear of the alternator.
You will need to run K&N oil filter # 33-2713 or equivalent. You
may also use a remote oil filter adapter.
Click here for the correct adapter. This alternator setup uses the
additional boss on the 5.4L front cover that mounts an idler pulley
on the left side of the engine. This idler pulley is available through
Ford under part # F65Z8678AAA for about 15.00. |
